Day 1 - Airport - Negombo
We will pick you up from the Katunayake international airport and take you to your hotel in Negombo, a 15 min drive. The palm-fringed beaches of Negombo offer a relaxing escape, where you can soak up the sun, indulge in a boat ride in the Dutch canal, visit the town's famous fish market, where colorful boats bring in the day's fresh catch.
Day 2 - Negombo - Anuradhapura
Visit Anuradhapura Ancity City, the first city of the 2500 year civilization in Sri Lanka. Watch the ruins, temples, largest stupas in the world as well as the tanks and irrigation networks still being used by the modern day farmers. Travel to Mihintale, a significant pilgrimage site and a revered place of Buddhist worship. It holds great historical and cultural importance as the birthplace of Buddhism in Sri Lanka. Overnight stay in Anuradhapura.
Day 3 - Anuradhapura - Vavuniya - Kilinochchi - Jaffna
Jaffna, the northernmost city of Sri Lanka, is a rich with cultural and historical heritage. Known for its vibrant Tamil culture and architecture, Jaffna offers a unique experience for visitors. Explore iconic landmarks such as the Jaffna Fort, an ancient Dutch fortification, and the Nallur Kandaswamy Kovil, a significant Hindu temple adorned with intricate sculptures and vibrant decorations. Immerse yourself in the local culture by sampling traditional Jaffna cuisine, known for its distinct flavors and use of seafood and spices.
Day 4 - Jaffna - Nagadeepa Viharaya - Delft Island - Jaffna
Visit Nagadeepa Raja Maha Viharaya, in Nagadeepa island, a sacred Buddhist temple believed to have been visited by Lord Buddha himself. The temple attracts pilgrims from all over the country, who come to pay their respects and seek blessings. Additionally, Nagadeepa is also known for the Nagapooshani Amman Kovil, a prominent Hindu temple dedicated to the goddess Parvati. Delft Island, also known as Neduntheevu, is a remote and idyllic island located off the northern coast of Sri Lanka. It is known for its pristine beaches, turquoise waters, and rich historical heritage. Delft Island is famous for its wild horses, which roam freely across the island, creating a unique and picturesque sight. Overnight in Jaffna.
Day 5 - Jaffna - Dambakola Patuna - Nilawarai- Nallur - Jaffna
Visit Dambokola Patuna Viharaya, Nallur Temple and Nilawarai well. Overnight in Jaffna.
Day 6 - Jaffna - Kilinochchi - Vavuniya - Trincomalee
Travel to Trincomalee. Trincomalee, located on the northeastern coast of Sri Lanka, is renowned for its pristine beaches, turquoise waters, and historical landmarks. Trincomalee is also home to the iconic Koneswaram Temple, a Hindu temple perched on a cliff overlooking the ocean. The temple holds great religious significance and provides breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding area. Overnight in Trinco.
Day 7 - Trincomalee - Nilaveli
Whale/Dolphin watching in the morning and then move to Nilaveli for snorkling & to visit pigion island national park. Overnight in Trinco.
Day 8 - Trinco - Habarana - Sigiriya
Travel from Trinco to In the Minneriya/Kaudulla national park for the wildlife safari. Overnight stay in Sigiriya.
Day 9 - Sigiriya - Polonnaruwa - Sigiriya
In the morning climb Sigiriya Rock. Then travel to Dambulla & visit Dambulla cave temple, the cave walls are adorned with colorful frescoes depicting scenes from Buddhist mythology and the life of Buddha. Travel to Matale Spice Gardens, where visitors can explore the aromatic world of Sri Lankan spices and learn about their traditional uses and visit the Aluvihara Rock Temple. Travel to Kandy for overnight.
Day 10 - Kandy - Nuwara Eliya
Kandy is the last capital of the ancient Kingdoms. We visit the Temple of the tooth and the Royal Botanical Garden. We then go to a Tea factory to see how tea leaves are plucked, dried, ground and produced to get the tea in your cup. We travel to Nuwara Eliya the highest city in Sri Lanka, and do sight seeing. Overnight stay in Nuwara Eliya.
Day 11 - Nuwara Eliya - Ella
We take a trekking tour in Horton Plains National Park, a unique and breathtaking destination renowned for its picturesque landscapes and diverse ecosystem. This protected area is characterized by vast grasslands, misty cloud forests, and dramatic cliffs, offering stunning views and serene surroundings. The highlight of Horton Plains is the iconic World's End, a sheer precipice that provides awe-inspiring panoramic views of the surrounding valleys. We follow to Baker's Falls and trek through the scenic trails, encountering unique flora and fauna along the way. Overnight in Ella.
Day 12 - Ella
We take a picturesque train ride to The Nine Arches Bridge, an architectural marvel that showcases the ingenuity of early 20th-century engineering. This iconic bridge, with its stunning design and lush surroundings, offers a picturesque setting for visitors. We then travel to Ella : with lush tea plantations, misty mountains, cascading waterfalls, and stunning viewpoints like Ella Rock and Little Adam's Peak, Ella is a haven for nature lovers and hikers. The town also offers a vibrant food scene, welcoming guesthouses, and a laid-back vibe that makes it a favorite among travelers seeking a peaceful and rejuvenating getaway.
Day 13 - Ella - Yala - Mirissa
We travel to Yala National Park for a wildlife safari. Yala is famous for Elephants, Leopards & aquatic birds. Overnight in Mirissa.
Day 14 - Mirissa - Galle
We go for whale watching early in the morning.
We tour the Galle city including the Galle fort and surroundings and then travel to Unawatuna beach. Overnight in Unawatuna.
Day 15 - Galle - Colombo
We travel to Sri Lanka's main city - Colombo. We do a city tour of Colombo discovering the cultural & tourist points in the vibrant City.
Day 16 - Colombo - Airport
End of the tour with departure from Katunayake.
